He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire
These are the words of John the Baptist as he spoke of the Lord Jesus Christ and His ministry on earth.
The event of being baptised with the Holy Spirit and fire was first experienced by people on the Day of Pentecost, as recorded in the Bible book of Acts Chapter 2.
The importance of this experience cannot be overstated. God even confirmed to John the Baptist the purpose of Jesus Christ was to baptise people with the Holy Spirit (John 1:33).
Jesus himself is recorded at John 3:3-8 as stipulating except a person be born of water (full immersion baptism) and the Spirit they cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Therefore, because being baptised with the Holy Spirit is essential for a person’s salvation (along with water baptism by full immersion), the experience is not going to be left for us to say it has happened, or to rely on our own emotions or ideas. It is not subjective (subject to the person) but objective (meaning aside from our feelings or opinions). The baptism with the Holy Spirit will happen exactly the way God prescribed (John 3:8, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-6). Many people over the past 2000 years have had the experience of being baptised by Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit … have you? (Acts 19:2)
